The Wisconsin Open Enrollment Program allows parents and guardians to apply for their children to attend a public school district other than the one in which they reside. This program is available for students in grades 4K through 12, and it includes both regular and virtual schools.

Key Information:

Eligibility: The program is open to all Wisconsin residents, regardless of income level. Students in 4-year-old kindergarten (4K) through 12th grade are eligible.
Application Period: The main application window runs from early February to late April each year. During this period, parents can submit applications for the upcoming school year. Outside of the application period? Please visit Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) website to fill out the alternative open enrollment application.
Transportation: Parents are responsible for transporting their children to and from school. However, the state provides limited reimbursement for low-income families to assist with transportation costs.
